A huge congratulations to our incredible team of runners who completed the Great North Run 2026 on Sunday 13 September, taking on the world-famous half marathon in exceptionally hot and sunny conditions.
Despite the challenging weather, Lucinda, Mel, Jordan, Clare, Lorna, Will, William, Ben, Emma, Alana, Susie, Jake, Josh and Heidi all crossed the finish line and successfully completed the 13.1-mile course. For several members of the team, this was their first ever half marathon, making their achievement even more remarkable.
Not only did the team demonstrate determination, resilience and commitment on race day, but they also worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event to raise vital funds for Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity and the Great Start in Life Foundation.
Together, they have raised an incredible £5,500 and counting. As a result, the funds will help support children, young people and their families, while also benefiting a range of services across Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT), including the End of Life Service.
Furthermore, every pound raised will help fund projects and enhancements that go above and beyond NHS provision, helping to improve the experience of patients and families across our communities.
We are immensely grateful to everyone who took part. Whether it was your first half marathon or one of many, your dedication to both training and fundraising has been truly inspiring. Thanks to your efforts, you are helping to make a real and lasting difference to local NHS services.
Once again, congratulations to all our 2026 Great North Run runners. You should be incredibly proud of everything you have achieved.
