This September, HHCC is teaming up with Sky Blue Adventures to offer an unforgettable fundraising experience. Together, we will guide our supporters to the summit of one of the Lake District’s most iconic mountains at sunrise.
On Sunday 27 September, you will meet your expert guides at 4am to begin your ascent. From there, you will climb towards Helvellyn’s summit plateau and celebrate first light at the top—an unforgettable moment.
The adventure starts and finishes at Swirls Car Park in Thirlmere and usually takes 4 to 5 hours. Throughout the journey, qualified Mountain Leaders will guide and support you. You will follow a non‑technical route with no scrambling, making it accessible to many participants. However, the climb remains physically demanding, so it offers a rewarding challenge for those seeking something meaningful.
By taking part, you will support our Great Start in Life Foundation. Every step you take will help enhance the lives of children, young people, and families who use services provided by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. For example, your fundraising could support grassroots sports clubs, provide books for families, or help people in deprived areas travel to essential appointments.
As a result, your challenge will make a genuine and lasting difference in our community.
To take part, you will need a reasonable level of fitness, as the climb involves several hours of steady walking. Once you sign up, we will provide a detailed itinerary and a full kit list. Essential items include walking boots, warm layers, waterproof clothing, food, water, and, most importantly, a head torch for the early start.
