HHCC’s aims and ambitions align with the strategic ambitions of HDFT. By aligning our charitable aims with the Trust’s ambitions, we maximise our impact to enhance the Trust’s strategy success. Liaising with wards, departments and services regularly to determine their fundraising needs allows us to focus fundraising efforts to the greatest impact. This enhances the experience and quality of care provided by HDFT and encourages innovation to improve quality and patient experience.
Creating strong partnerships in our local communities increase support for HHCC and subsequently the trust. These partnerships, alongside regular and major donors, generate fundraising income that can help make a difference to HDFT services. These relationships support us in being able to enhance the person centred care already delivered at HDFT.
All charitable expenditure is aligned to an HDFT Strategic Ambition, providing further clarity about the impact HHCC is having on the services provided.
Charitable Funds Committee
We meet with the Charitable Funds Committee (CFC) on a quarterly basis. CFC oversees the ongoing development and delivery of the Fundraising Strategy alongside the implementation of appropriate infrastructure and charity expenditure. We meet with non-executive and executive directors at these meetings, chaired by the Chair of HDFT. Each meeting provides reassurance of our charitable activities to the Trust Board. These meetings are an opportunity for HHCC to discuss successes and lessons from recent times with the Corporate Trustees. We also provide financial and fundraising updates and share these with the members of CFC.
As a result, CFC ensures charitable funds are managed in a manner consistent with the requirements of the relevant regulatory and statutory frameworks. This is in accordance with the guidance on NHS Charities set out by the Charity Commission.
