On 27 September, my husband Dave and I will be taking on an exciting challenge by hiking one of the Lake District’s most iconic mountains, Helvellyn, through the early morning to watch the sunrise from the summit. Anyone that knows me knows I love a challenge ❤️
As someone who is relatively new to HDFT, I wanted to set myself a challenge for several reasons:
- I’m turning the big 50 in February and have decided to embrace every opportunity that comes my way, both personally and professionally. This year alone I’ve also signed up for the Great North Run and even a parachute jump!
- I want to meet colleagues from across the HDFT footprint and build new connections and friendships.
- I want to create some amazing memories with my husband.
As part of this challenge, I am raising money for the Great Start in Life Foundation, part of Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity. The Foundation supports children, young people and families across Yorkshire and the North of England, helping to ensure they have the best possible start in life.
I am particularly passionate about the Foundation’s small grants programme, which helps grassroots sports clubs and community organisations across the Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust footprint make a real difference to local children and young people. Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and any donations you are able to make. Please wish us luck for the very early start. Watching the sunrise from the top of Helvellyn will undoubtedly make every step worthwhile!
