How long have you been part of the team at HHCC?
I joined the team in January 2024 and it has been an exhilarating whirlwind from the beginning.
What is your role at the charity?
I am the associate business development, charity and volunteer manager at HDFT but I am fortunate to be able to spend most of my time within the charity. I assist the team with managing our fundraising projects, whilst working on ways to support the strategic direction of the charity from an operational level. (I am also the team’s go to for Microsoft Office support!)
What inspires you to do what you do?
The variety in the charity is definitely a motivator, as well as being able to meet so many passionate people. My love for the outdoors, allowed me to create the Stepping Up community, promoting and supporting our active fundraisers on their challenges, was really special to me.
All of the wonderful members of our communities giving up their time and effort to support their local NHS inspires me. Being aware of the impact that they are having is one of my main drivers at HHCC.
What does “making a difference” look like to you?
Working for an NHS charity is a very unique experience as I’m able to network with local businesses and communities whilst making a real difference to the patients and staff at HDFT. Knowing that I am able to help make tough experiences more comfortable or even enjoyable for the local community is something that is very important to me. I particularly enjoy being able to demonstrate to our supporters the impact that they’re involvement with HHCC has.
One of my favourite initiatives I’ve worked on so far was the Adult Gift Campaign, where we distributed 453 donated gifts to acute inpatients. Being able to connect the generosity of the general public with people going through a difficult time made it a very special Christmas at HHCC, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of it.
What’s one word your colleagues would use to describe you?
