Congratulations to all of our Great North Run 2025 runners
Through the NHS Charities Together collaborative, we secured 10 places for the Great North Run (GNR) 2025. We received over 15 expressions of interest in places and following two deferrals had 8 participants take part in the half marathon on Sunday 7 September 2025. We also had a Junior Great North Run participant take on the 4km race on Saturday 6 September.
The GNR is a significant fundraising event for the Great Start in Life Foundation, with seven out of our nine runners fundraising to support children, young people and their families have a great start in life. Our runners came from all over the HDFT footprint, including Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, Northumberland and Harrogate, demonstrating the reach that the impact of their achievement will have.
All nine of our runners completed the challenge in fantastic times and collected their medals for the 44th GNR. Through their fundraising, they have raised £2,571 for GSIL and £605 for causes at HHCC, which will make a huge difference in the experience of our services users and staff.
